Come play pickleball!

This fun paddle sport combines elements of tennis, ping pong, and badminton, and it’s one of the fastest growing sports in the United States!

Our gymnasium offers four indoor pickleball courts. The local pickleball community is very active and players of all levels are welcome on our courts.

PATH Recreation & Fitness Center is open to the public. Enjoy the center’s programs and amenities with All Access membership, a monthly recreation pass, drop-in fee, or court rental; choose what works for you!

All Access membership: All Access include full membership at PATH Recreation & Fitness Center and Powell Wellness Center (also located in Culpeper). All Access members enjoy free court access during scheduled open court times.

Monthly rec pass: Includes admission to scheduled open court times, and use of the perimeter walking track & ping pong, air hockey & cornhole. Monthly rec pass pricing: student 16-24 – $20*; adult – $40, couple/family of 2* – $68, family (up to 5 members*) – $78, adult 62 & older – $36, adult couple 62 & older – $60. (* – please note that students must have proof of attendance and family of 2 and family memberships include youth up to age 24 residing at the same address with proof of residence.)

Drop-in play during sport-specific open court times: Youth 4-12 – $5; youth 13-17 – $7, adult 18-61 – $10, adult 62 & older – $7, family of up to 5 members – $30.

Court rental: To arrange a court rental, please call our front desk at 540-825-0000. The rate is $40/hour for up to 10 people. All Access members receive a 10% discount on court rental.

Equipment: We have basketballs and futsal balls. For pickleball, most players bring their own pickleball equipment, but if you are just starting out, our front desk has paddles and balls (adult and youth sizes).

OPPORTUNITIES FOR PLAY

OPEN COURT TIME FOR PICKLEBALL

Typically several multi-hour blocks of time during the week and weekend are available for pickleball play; all levels are welcome. Tuesday and Thursday mornings feature court space for beginner/intermediate levels and intermediate/advanced levels. For details, please check the monthly court schedule. Players rotate into play if courts are busy. All Access members and monthly recreation pass holders play for free; drop-ins are also welcome.

DROP-IN PLAY (first come, first served)

Courts are open for pickleball and other uses on a first come, first served basis in the mornings (typically 5 am – 9 am) and early afternoons (typically noon – 3 pm). Drop-in fees above.

A 2018 study by researchers at Western Colorado University followed 15 male and female pickleball players who played 3 times a week, for one hour each time, for six weeks. Health indicator measurements saw improvements in blood pressure, cholesterol and cardiorespiratory fitness levels. Link to study
