Meet our certified pickleball instructors

George Shackelford

Certified by the Professional Pickleball Registry (PPR), official education & certification partner of USA Pickleball.

George discovered pickleball after moving from Houston, Texas to Culpeper in 2017. After developing his own game, he began coaching friends and helping them improve their games. Along with three other local players George co-founded the Culpeper Pickleball Club and helped advance pickleball in the Culpeper area. He is an experienced tournament player and enjoys helping his students to prepare for tournaments. As a PPR-certified coach, George enjoys working with players of every level. At PRFC, George has taught clinics for players seeking to build a strong foundation focused on shots, footwork & body position (PB 201) and players interested in developing specific shots, positioning and overall strategy (PB 350).

Randy Parker

Certified by the Professional Pickleball Registry (PPR), official education & certification partner of USA Pickleball.

Randy Parker started playing pickleball at PATH Recreation & Fitness Center over 2 years ago and quickly became dedicated to playing the sport. He has since become a PPR Certified Associate Coach and has taken over 70 hours of individual, group and camp coaching classes with both pro players and PPR certified coaches. His approach is to help each player discover  and develop their skills based on their past experiences in sports play and possible limitations related to age issues. He will break down each skill to steps that allow newer players to learn each skill. At PRFC, Randy has taught Pickleball 101 sessions for new players and supported a pickleball camp for youth.
