Homeschool Movement & Health
Movement & Health offers homeschooled kids ages 5-12 a variety of experiences in physical education, sports, nutrition, body wellness and related crafts over the course of the 8-week program.
Each week will include a different area of focus that is geared to the program’s age range. These may include:
- Basic fitness
- Sports training
- Introduction to a sport
- Stretching fundamentals
- General health
- Yoga and mindfulness
- POUND, a fitness class using drumsticks!
- A related craft may be included in a class.
Day & time: Mondays, 11:00 am – noon.
Program fee: $80 for the first child, $40/sibling. Scholarships available for income-eligible families – scholarship form available online or at front desk).
Pre-registration is required for the full 8-week program. Inquiries and registration: please call our front desk at 540-825-0000 or email prfc@culpeperwellness.org. When you register, please alert us to any allergies your child may have.
Parents are welcome to stay during the program. Seating and restrooms are located in our lobby area. If you need to leave, please confirm a contact phone number where you may be reached. If you are not a member and would like to use the fitness center while your child enjoys Movement & Health, your first use is free.

August 10: Physical education activity and craft with personal trainer Francesca Rojas
August 17: Wellness & craft activity with Suzanne Wirtz (activity room adjacent to front desk)
August 24: Basics of pickleball with Grace Sevener
August 31: Fitness class with instructor Lisa Olsson
September 7: Basics of volleyball with Grace Sevener
September 14: Physical education with personal trainer Francesca Rojas
September 21: Yoga with Eileen Moore
September 28: Swimming at Powell Wellness Center’s pool (12:00-1:00 pm)

Meet our program instructors (*current session):
*Eileen Moore: Eileen is a certified yoga teacher and Food for Life instructor. Her experience includes teaching children with special needs and working as a speech pathologist. She also has directed a preschool and owned a business offering art instruction as an after-school activity.
*Francesca Rojas: Personal trainer Francesca loves to help people feel good about themselves and assist them with goals such as weight loss and gaining strength. Her training certification included coursework in aerobic fitness, weight training and lifetime fitness and wellness.
*Grace Sevener: Grace is a K-12 certified Health and Physical Education teacher who promotes lifestyle activities and nutrition. In addition to supporting Homeschool Movement & Health, she is teaching pickleball to kids during weekly open sessions at PRFC.
*Suzanne Wirtz: Suzanne has managed the nutrition and health portion of our program since it started in 2019 and is a whiz at developing crafts that illustrate wellness in a fun way. Painting with broccoli, anyone?
*Lisa Olsson: Lisa is a group fitness instructor at PRFC who teaches TRX suspension training, kettlebell and bootcamp classes.
Karen Irvin: A POUND Pro group fitness instructor, Karen is certified to work with all ages from preschoolers to older adults and share the benefits of movement and music. In this fun class combining drumming with fitness, she looks forwarded to teaching kids how to let their inner rock star loose!
Clay Warner: Clay is operations director for the Culpeper Soccer Club and head coach for the Eastern View High School boys soccer team.
Kat Tines: Kat is a local muralist and painter. She studied graphic design at Drexel University. She previously owned and operated an art studio and gallery. She is now focusing on creating murals beyond the studio space.
Rebecca Bennett: Rebecca has been teaching in our tumbling program since early 2022, sharing her love of tumbling with kids as young as 18 months and with intermediate and advanced level tumblers.
Edson Appleton: Edson is a personal trainer and small group fitness trainer at PRFC.
Merrill Simpson: Merrill has been a certified fitness instructor and personal trainer for over 20 years. Her classes support heart health, mobility and strengthen with movement set to a high energy soundtrack.
